Restylane® is a versatile injectable treatment that can be used to treat volume loss in the face, as well as facial lines and creases caused by lax skin. The non-surgical dermal filler is designed to administer subtle additions of volume to the lips, cheeks, under-eye hollows, or temples for redefined facial contours and smoother, younger-looking skin. Composed of hyaluronic acid—a naturally-occuring substance in the body that helps the skin retain its youthful properties—Restylane® can be an effective means of non-surgical rejuvenation in areas of the face that exhibit age-related volume deficits.
What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler that can significantly improve signs of aging in the face by adding volume to deep creases and sunken facial planes. As a smooth-consistency gel designed to target regions typically affected by volume loss, Restylane® injections can restore the appearance of youthful facial fullness and enhance aging skin. Wrinkles, fine lines, and nasolabial folds (lines between the nose and mouth) can be made smoother and more youthful, or volume can be added to the lips for a more sensual appearance. Due to its hyaluronic acid-based composition, Restylane® does not require an allergy test. What’s more, the molecules in the advanced Restylane® formulation tend to bond with water as they break down, generally creating a plumper aesthetic in the treated areas.
What Concerns Can Restylane® Treat?

Who is a Candidate for Restylane®?
Men and women seeking a non-surgical treatment to improve signs of facial aging can be good candidates for Restylane®, provided that they are in generally good health. Some patients, including those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 years of age, are not candidates for Restylane®. After examining your areas of concern during a consultation, Dr. Sepehr will help you determine which treatment options can help you achieve your cosmetic goals.
How is Restylane® Treatment Performed?
Restylane® injections are administered at our Newport Beach practice and typically take under 30 minutes to complete. During the procedure, Dr. Sepehr will inject the Restylane® solution into the targeted area(s) with an ultra-fine needle until the desired aesthetic is achieved. If desired, he can numb the treatment sites before injection to make the experience as comfortable as possible. After the procedure, there is typically no downtime necessary and you may return to your normal routine immediately.
What are the Results of Restylane® Treatment?
The results of Restylane® should be noticeable soon after treatment. Most patients can resume daily activities right after injections, although mild side effects including bruising, swelling, and redness, is normal. These reactions are temporary and should dissipate quickly. The outcome achieved from Restylane® can last anywhere from six months to one year, and can be maintained with occasional touch-up treatments by Dr. Sepehr.
