When patients start to notice facial aging, they tend to focus on one main area of concern — possibly the area that hereditarily has shown signs of aging before other parts of the face. Sometimes, this may be the area around the eyes, the area around the mouth, or perhaps the neck. Since this “problem” area tends to draw their attention, some of them observe the affected region in isolation under the assumption that results would look more natural if they only treat one area at a time. While this may be true of someone presenting relatively early — such as in their 30s or 40s — usually if someone is presenting in their 50s or 60s, the other parts of their face would naturally also have been affected by gravity. This is why having an artistic eye is so important to be able to achieve balanced rejuvenation in various parts of the face, thus creating the most natural looking reversal of the effects of aging.

While facelift surgery offers an excellent way to rejuvenate the lower face and neck, the procedure is often limited in its inability to address concerns across the entire face. To improve upon the limitations of a narrow-scoped approach, Dr. Ali Sepehr — our double board-certified and fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon — developed the RadiaLift. RadiaLift offers an innovative, all-encompassing process to refresh and rejuvenate the face in a more natural, harmonious, and holistic fashion, allowing patients to achieve superior results that look true to their younger selves and last longer than other treatment options.

RadiaLift approaches your face in its entirety. Following a global analysis of your concerns and facial features, Dr. Sepehr creates an extremely customized and stepwise treatment plan to help you look refreshed, rested, and youthful according to your goals. Since your face is treated as a whole, this inclusive process allows the utmost harmony between your neighboring facial features.

What is RadiaLift?

A RadiaLift is a holistic, rejuvenative process that considers your face as a whole, allowing Dr. Sepehr to formulate the most integrated and cohesive surgical plan to achieve your individual goals. Starting with a comprehensive analysis of your facial tissues, Dr. Sepehr considers all of your various concerns in relation to your other facial features. In this way, a RadiaLift can lift the face across all dimensions and optimize your natural facial harmony to achieve the highest standard of results.

Since the approach is so customized, no two surgical plans look the same and may include any combination of options, including brow lift surgery, upper and lower blepharoplasty, a lower facelift and neck lift, upper lip lift surgery, chin augmentation, temple implants, rhinoplasty, and laser skin resurfacing, among other potential procedures. Dr. Sepehr may also recommend BOTOX® Cosmetic, fillers, and a skin care routine as part of your comprehensive treatment plan. The process can be completed in as little as one to two treatments for some patients. Dr. Sepehr strongly believes in a conservative and incremental approach whenever possible and will review the most beneficial options for you after a meticulous facial analysis.

Dr. Ali Sepehr of OC Facial Plastic Surgery Discusses his RadiaLift Holistic Approach

What are the Benefits of RadiaLift?

By not treating the face in totality, many plastic surgeons focus too intently on one region, developing tunnel vision and simply lifting the facial tissues across a single vector. In reality, the muscles, ligaments, and attachments of the face sag in a rotational direction (not just down or forward, but rather down and forward). Therefore, lifting the facial tissues should occur in a three-dimensional pattern to ensure a natural and holistic result. RadiaLift achieves exactly that through its all-inclusive philosophy, in addition to treating issues like a loss of elasticity and facial volume. Numerous benefits can be enjoyed with a RadiaLift, including:

  • While a standard facelift provides results in the lower face and neck, a RadiaLift allows enhancement and rejuvenation that can be seen in the eyes, cheeks, forehead, lips, nose, and skin.
  • Since a RadiaLift is inclusive of all facial features, results appear more natural and harmonious to the unique character of your face.
  • Dr. Sepehr is able to treat each patient’s face with unique consideration of their own distinct contours, shadows, and highlights, providing more robust and sophisticated rejuvenation.
  • The process creates the opportunity to utilize state-of-the-art techniques, technologies, and tools at our disposal, which can reduce healing time and minimize the recovery period.

If you are able to achieve the desired rejuvenation with injectables alone, a RadiaLift may not be the best treatment choice. The process can be very beneficial for any patient who wants to look more refreshed and rested, but those who can no longer achieve the outcome they want using BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers are ideal candidates.

Is a RadiaLift Right for Me?

With the broad range of facial rejuvenation options available, we understand that many patients wonder which approach may be the best way to bring their desired results to fruition. A RadiaLift can provide excellent results for patients who:

  • Are healthy and have no unmanaged conditions that could interfere with the healing process
  • Want more harmonious, integrative, or holistic results than a single procedure can provide
  • Wish for three-dimensional facial rejuvenation that keeps you looking true to yourself by reversing the natural pattern of aging for your facial tissues
  • Seek a multi-treatment surgical plan completely personalized for your needs
  • Don’t smoke or can refrain from smoking before and after surgery

RadiaLift offers a one-of-a-kind surgical plan to reduce facial aging with results that look more natural than ever. Our RadiaLift before-and-after photos can illustrate how this stepwise treatment process provides total facial rejuvenation that not only preserves, but also complements the natural character of your face.

Common RadiaLift Treatment Options

Brow Lift

A brow lift is designed to reset the position of the eyebrows and smooth forehead creases, restoring a more youthful and rested appearance. By repositioning underlying tissues and removing excess skin, a brow lift can reduce sagging brows, soften frown lines, and brighten the eye area. Techniques vary from minimally invasive endoscopic approaches to pretrichial and more extensive methods, depending on a patient’s anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Upper and/or Lower Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, addresses excess skin, fat, and muscle around the eyes. Upper blepharoplasty focuses on removing drooping skin that can rest on the lashes and create a tired look, while lower blepharoplasty targets under-eye bags, puffiness, and wrinkles. The result is a smoother, more alert, and rejuvenated eye contour that enhances overall facial harmony.

Upper Lip Lift

A lip lift shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, enhancing lip shape and increasing visibility of the upper teeth when desired. By removing a small strip of skin beneath the nose to address age-related lip elongation, a lip lift creates a fuller, more youthful lip without adding volume. This predictable, in-office surgery is often chosen by patients seeking a permanent alternative to fillers.

Chin Augmentation

Chin augmentation enhances the projection and definition of the chin to improve proportion and your natural facial profile. This can be achieved using implants or bone augmentation, depending on the desired outcome. A well-proportioned chin can strengthen the jawline, improve symmetry, and complement your other facial features — particularly the nose.

Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and smooth wrinkles. Common areas include the cheeks, lips, nasolabial folds, and under-eye hollows. Made from a protein called hyaluronic acid, fillers provide immediate, natural-looking results and can be tailored to each patient’s aesthetic goals.

Temple Implants

Temple implants restore volume in hollow or sunken temples, which can occur with aging or significant weight loss. By adding subtle fullness to this often-overlooked area, temple implants create a smoother, more youthful contour in the upper face. This enhancement can also improve the transition between the forehead and cheeks, contributing to overall facial harmony.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, or nose surgery, reshapes and refines the nose to improve both appearance and function. The procedure can address concerns such as a dorsal hump, wide nasal bridge, asymmetry, or breathing difficulties. Each procedure is highly individualized, aiming to create a balanced, natural-looking result that complements a patient’s facial features. It’s becoming increasingly recognized that a nose that does not look droopy contributes a more youthful look to the face.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing uses advanced laser technology to improve the skin texture, tone, and overall quality. By removing damaged outer layers and stimulating collagen production, it can reduce fine lines, sun damage, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation. The result is smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical injectable neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes the facial muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles. Commonly used to treat frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet, BOTOX® Cosmetic creates a smoother, more youthful look while preserving your natural facial expressions. Treatments are quick, and offer minimal downtime.

Skin Care Products

Medical-grade skin care products are formulated with higher concentrations of active ingredients to improve the health and appearance of your skin. These products target concerns such as aging, acne, pigmentation, and dryness while supporting overall function. When used consistently and in conjunction with professional treatments, they help maintain and enhance long-term results.

How is a RadiaLift Performed?

The process for a RadiaLift begins with a total evaluation of the face and neck in order to identify areas of concern. From there, Dr. Sepehr designs a surgical plan completely tailored to provide a more personalized reversal of the aging process. The guiding philosophy that led to Dr. Sepehr developing the RadiaLift is strict maintenance of the natural shape of a patient’s eyes and mouth. One can achieve wonderfully satisfying changes for the patient that others don’t notice as long as the shape of the eyes and mouth don’t change. Complementary procedures and treatments are chosen based on your goals and anatomical indicators with this primary principle in mind. In some cases, this may include supportive or adjunctive augmentation with lip lifting, fillers, chin implants, and/or rhinoplasty when necessary.

Laser skin resurfacing and other non-surgical skincare services are sometimes utilized depending on the level of skin rejuvenation required to achieve your goals. In general, surgical time ranges from five to eight hours.

What Can I Expect During the RadiaLift Recovery Period?

The recovery period for a RadiaLift typically lasts two weeks before patients feel well enough to resume normal activities, although some patients are able to return to their routines in as little as 7 to 10 days. This depends on the types of procedures chosen and the extent of your treatment plan. Reactions like bruising, swelling, tenderness, and numbness are to be expected after surgery, and Dr. Sepehr will provide you with extensive aftercare and post-operative instructions. Given his decades-long experience as a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Sepehr is well-versed in special techniques and technology that can minimize the downtime required after surgery.

How Long Do RadiaLift Results Last?

One of the primary benefits of the RadiaLift is the longevity of the final outcome. Since a RadiaLift repositions, lifts, and renews facial tissues in the natural pattern that aging occurs (in a three-dimensional direction), your enhancement should be noticeable for decades — often outlasting the rejuvenation achieved with standalone procedures. While nothing will stop the aging process, those who received a RadiaLift tend to age more gracefully and elegantly appearing surprisingly more youthful than similarly aged peers.

There are also at-home measures patients can take to further slow down the aging process and maintain the full integrity of their results, including:

  • Not smoking, as this can cause premature facial aging
  • Wearing a high-SPF sunscreen and sun protection whenever outdoors, such as hats and sunglasses
  • Adopting a good skincare routine consisting of medical-grade, physician-recommended skincare products

How Much Does RadiaLift Cost?

With a process as customized and unique as a RadiaLift, the cost of the procedure can vary widely according to each patient’s needs. The price for a patient who desires mild rejuvenation may add up to roughly $10,000, while someone who desires a more premium set of treatments will require a relatively higher investment. You will have a better understanding of the cost of your RadiaLift after discussing your goals and treatment options in a consultation. Our Newport Beach office would be happy to discuss costs and our plastic surgery financing options, which include CareCredit® and Prosper® Healthcare Lending, if you have any questions.

Is a Non-Surgical RadiaLift Possible?

A RadiaLift usually requires surgical procedures to achieve the powerful, long-lasting outcomes characteristic of this personalized treatment plan. That said, if you wish to avoid the expenses and recovery period required by aesthetic surgery, Dr. Sepehr can evaluate your concerns and give you a non-surgical treatment regimen tailored to your preferences. Our non-surgical treatments can reduce wrinkles, improve your complexion, and add volume to thinning areas of the face. This still allows you to enjoy noticeable rejuvenation, but does not replicate the high-caliber results achieved with facial plastic surgery.
